SEASONAL PULLETS
Started pullets are available seasonally from approximately March to November, depending on hatch rates, grow-outs, weather, flock plans, and what we choose to keep back for our own breeding program.
Pullets are a great option for people who do not want to start with tiny chicks. They are older, fully feathered, past the brooder stage, and much further along than day-old chicks.
Most pullets we offer are started pullets or older grow-outs. They are usually not laying yet unless clearly stated otherwise.
Please read this full page before submitting a pullet request.
HOW PULLET RESERVATIONS WORK
We now offer pullet reservations.
Reservations are for breed only, not for exact individual birds, exact colours, exact markings, or custom-picked traits.
Examples:
• Marans pullet from our Blue/Black/Splash Marans group
• Orpington pullet from our mottled Orpington group
• Green Jewel pullet from our current Green Jewel grow-out group
• Fibro Egger pullet from our current project grow-outs
• Swedish Flower Hen pullet from our current SFH grow-outs
You may list general preferences on the form, such as blue, splash, darker, lighter, heavily mottled, gold-toned, etc. We will do our best based on what is available.
Preferences are not guarantees.
Specific colours, shades, markings, comb types, body type, future size, future laying colour are not guaranteed.
WHY COLOUR CANNOT BE GUARANTEED
Many of our breeding groups hatch in a range of colours & patterns.
For example, Blue/Black/Splash groups can produce blue, black, and splash birds. Mottled Orpingtons may include black, blue, chocolate, mauve, and varying amounts of mottling. Project birds & landrace birds can vary even more as they grow.
Splash, blue, chocolate, mauve, and other lighter/flashier colours are often requested first. These colours cannot be guaranteed for every buyer.
If you are only willing to accept one very specific colour, please understand your wait may be longer, availability may be extremely limited, or we may not be able to fill your request at all.
Black and darker birds are not “lesser” birds. They are often very important within breeding groups and may be just as nice, healthy, and valuable as the flashier colours.
PROJECT BIRDS/LANDRACE BREEDS
Project birds & landrace breeds include:
Green Jewels, Fibro Eggers, Moonshades, Vietnamese Hmong & Swedish Flower Hens may vary quite a bit in appearance.
Birds may vary in:
• Colour
• Pattern
• Leakage
• Skin tone
• Comb type
• Feathering
• Mottling
• Egg colour
• Overall type as they mature
We select our birds based on our goals, but they are not cookie-cutter birds and should not be expected to look identical.
If you are purchasing from this group of pullets, you must be comfortable with natural variation.
PULLET AGES
Pullets may be available at different ages depending on the month and breed.
General age guide:
• 9–12 weeks: younger grow-out pullets
• 13–17 weeks: started pullets / older pullets
• 18–22 weeks: near point-of-lay for some breeds, but not all
• 22–30+ weeks: closer to ready-to-lay for many heritage or larger breeds
• Actively laying: only if clearly stated
Laying age varies by breed, season, daylight, weather, feed, individual maturity, stress, and environment.
Larger or slower-maturing breeds such as Brahmas & Wyandottes may take longer to begin laying.
We do not guarantee when a pullet will start laying.
HOW TO REQUEST PULLETS
To request pullets, please complete the pullet request section on our form.
Please do not submit a form unless you have reviewed the price list and are prepared to pay if availability is confirmed.
Submitting a form does not guarantee availability.
PULLET RESERVATION ORDER
Pullet requests are handled based on availability, timing, and payment.
Paid reservations are prioritized.
If multiple people request the same breed/project or colour preference, availability will be offered in the order we process paid reservations and suitable birds become available.
If your first colour preference is not available, we may offer another colour from the same breed/project group.
You may accept or pass.
If you pass because you only want a specific colour, your request may be moved forward or waitlisted, but we cannot guarantee when or if that specific colour will become available.
PAYMENT / DEPOSITS
Pullets are not held without payment.
A 50% deposit will be required to reserve pullets.
Deposits are non-refundable.
Deposits go toward the final balance of your pullet order.
Once an invoice is sent, it must be paid within the stated invoice window. Our standard invoice hold is 12 hours unless otherwise stated.
Unpaid invoices do not hold birds.
If payment is not received within the invoice window, the invoice may be cancelled and availability may be offered to the next person.
CANCELLATIONS
Deposits are non-refundable.
If you cancel your pullet reservation, change your mind, fail to pay the balance, fail to respond within 5 days, or do not pick up within the agreed pickup window, your deposit may be forfeited.
We may choose to offer store credit in some situations, but refunds are not guaranteed.
Repeated cancellations, unpaid invoices, or no-shows may result in future orders requiring full payment upfront or being declined.
PICKUP
Pullet pickup is local gate pickup only in Napanee, Ontario, Canada.
We do not offer delivery.
Please make sure our location works for you before submitting a form.
Pickup times must be arranged in advance. We are a working farm and cannot accommodate vague pickup windows such as “sometime today” or “whenever.”
Please arrive at your scheduled pickup time.
We will meet you at the gate when you arrive.
If you are running late, please message us as soon as possible.
Birds will not be held indefinitely if pickup is missed or repeatedly rescheduled.
TRANSPORT BOXES
Proper transport boxes with ventiltion will be provided to you so there is no need to bring anything with you.
Boxes are $7.00 each and hold up to 4 birds comfortably. More boxes may be needed depending on the size of your order. The transportation boxes will be included in your payments.
BIOSECURITY
We maintain strict biosecurity for the safety of all flocks.
Once birds leave our care, they cannot return to the farm.
We do not take birds back, swap birds, exchange birds, or allow birds from outside farms onto our property.
This includes roosters, unwanted birds, birds that do not fit your program, birds your current flock does not accept, or birds you can no longer keep.
Please make sure you are prepared before purchasing.
SEXING / ROOSTER POSSIBILITY
Pullets are sold as pullets based on our best assessment at the time of sorting.
We do our best to sort accurately, but young poultry can occasionally surprise even experienced breeders.
If a bird sold as a pullet later turns out to be a rooster, please contact us with clear photos/videos. Birds cannot be returned for biosecurity reasons, but we will review the situation and offer a replacement or farm credit when applicable.
NO GUARANTEES
We do not guarantee:
• Exact colour
• Exact markings
• Exact shade
• Exact mottling
• Exact egg colour
• Future egg production

Pullets are living animals and continue to grow and change after leaving our farm.
Colours, patterns, leakage, body shape, combs, and overall appearance can continue developing as they mature.
HEALTH AT PICKUP
Pullets are looked over before leaving and are believed to be healthy and in good condition at the time of pickup.
Once birds leave our care, responsibility transfers to the buyer.
This includes proper transport, quarantine, housing, feed, water, predator protection, integration, parasite prevention, weather protection, and general care.
We strongly recommend quarantining all new birds before introducing them to an existing flock.
Concerns must be reported within 24 hours of pickup.
Photos, videos, and details of setup may be required before we can offer guidance.
We are happy to try to help, but we are not responsible for care, housing, stress, injury, illness, predator loss, integration issues, or management problems after birds leave our farm.
MONTHLY PULLET DROPS
Any pullets not filled through reservations may be posted publicly during monthly pullet drops.
Monthly drops may include extra pullets, younger grow-outs, project birds, pet-quality birds, or birds we decided not to keep back.
Availability can change quickly.
Pullets posted in monthly drops are not held without payment.
The same pickup, transport, biosecurity, and no-return policies apply.
